I was invited to the 2009 Hawaii Performing Arts Festival in Waimea, HI to work with Composer-in-Residence Ricky Ian Gordon. I will be spending July in Hawaii singing and tanning and eating lots of SPAM(ok, not really with the SPAM).I am so excited to work with him-I have been a huge fan since hearing Audra McDonald singing "Song for a dark girl" on her debut album, Way Back to Paradise way back in 1998. His music is absolutely gorgeous and poignant and NOW!! It is a dream to just meet him-but to work through his music with him--is BEYOND!!!
Plus, I will be in Hawaii---ahhhh I can just picture it-me vocalizing using the rhythms of the ocean as a metronome.
So excited!! Time for some dress shopping!
